ENSENADA, Baja California, Mexico—After the first two dates of the 2024 SCORE World Desert Championship, Gustavo ‘Tavo’ Vildosola Jr, 42, Mexicali, Mexico, is in the points lead in the marquee SCORE Trophy Truck division, with a couple of podiums in a row and looking forward to the second half of the season with many possibilities of being the new king in "The Monsters of the Desert".
‘Tavo’ has 239 points, thanks to his third place in the King Shocks 37th SCORE San Felipe 250, and second place in the BFGoodrich Tires 56th SCORE Baja 500, with his No.21 Ford Raptor Vildosola Racing number 21, an all-wheel drive car with Javier "Javi" Valenzuela as navigator.
Never in Vildosola's brilliant career has he been able to be SCORE Trophy Truck champion as a points driver, who seeks to join in a very small space with Apdaly Lopez and Juan Carlos Lopez, as the only Mexicans to achieve this accomplishment in SCORE history, something the former achieved in 2015, 2016 and 2017 with the RPM Off Road team.
Alan Ampudia, 33, Ensenada, Mexico, is second with 235 points, with a win in the SCORE San Felipe 250 and a 10th place finish in the SCORE Baja 500, at the controls of his No.10 Ford Raptor Mason from Team Papas and Beer.
Bryce Menzies, 36, Las Vegas, of the Menzies Motorsports team. is third in SCORE Trophy Truck with 229 points, with a pair of fourth-place finishes in the SCORE San Felipe 250 and the SCORE Baja 500 in his No. 1 AWD Ford Raptor Mason, as he continues his quest for his first win of the season.

Thor, who is the son of Tim Herbst, one of the top winners in the history of SCORE Trophy Truck, won the SCORE San Felipe 250 and was second in the SCORE Baja 500, along with his brother Pierce Herbst, 21, Las Vegas.
Davis, meanwhile, was second in the SCORE San Felipe 250 and won the SCORE Baja 500 a few weeks ago, aboard his No. 285 TSCO-built Ford Raptor, in what promises to be a start-to-finish battle with the Terrible Herbst boys for the annual title in a category that already has 47 racers in 2024.
